Kashmiri Garlic | Whole W/Cuticle | Michoacán | BLK Pack 2.2Lb-1Kg

Kashmiri Lahsun Garlic, grown in Oaxaca and supplied with its natural protective skin intact. This distinctive garlic is recognized for producing a small bulb primarily consisting of a single clove, clearly distinguishing it from conventional multi-clove garlic. Internationally, it is known by several names, including Kashmiri Garlic, Snow Mountain Garlic, Himalayan Garlic, Single Clove Garlic, Single Pod Garlic, Ek Pothi Lahsun, Ek Kali Lahsun, Pahadi Lahsun and Jammu Garlic. Some scientific literature also reports Japanese Garlic as a name used for this product in Mexico.

Organoleptic Properties

Small, compact, round to slightly oval bulbs covered by a dry beige, golden to light-brown protective skin. White to creamy-white interior, generally consisting of a single clove. Firm, crisp texture when fresh. Intense and penetrating aroma. Concentrated, pungent and persistent flavor with subtle earthy and spicy notes. Its aromatic profile is generally stronger than conventional garlic.

Suggested Uses

Ideal for raw or cooked applications, including sauces, dressings, marinades, curries, chutneys, soups, stews, meat, seafood, vegetables, rice dishes and Asian cuisine. It can also be roasted whole to soften its pungency and develop sweeter, toasted notes. Its small size and single-clove structure make it particularly convenient for portioning and processing.

Format

Bulk (BLK) per kilogram. Whole skin-on bulbs selected for firmness, integrity, size and commercial quality.

Storage and Handling

Store in a cool, dry, dark and well-ventilated environment. Avoid excessive humidity and condensation, which may encourage sprouting and mold development. Keep the natural skin intact until use, as it provides protection to the clove.

Quality and Selection Criteria

Compact, firm bulbs with dry, well-adhered protective skin. White to creamy-white interior, free from softening, excessive moisture, significant sprouting, mold, insect damage or deterioration. Product should retain its characteristic intense aroma.

Origin

Mexico.

Snow Mountain Garlic or Kashmiri Lahsun is traditionally associated with the mountainous Himalayan region and is particularly recognized for its distinctive single-clove bulb. Its precise botanical classification remains somewhat debated: commercial and botanical references associate it with Allium sativum, while a recent scientific characterization of material marketed as Snow Mountain Garlic identified it as Allium ampeloprasum L. Therefore, for the Oaxaca-grown product, Kashmiri Lahsun / Snow Mountain Garlic is the more appropriate commercial designation unless the specific production lot has undergone formal botanical identification.
